Through interviews and session reviews we find the moments that confuse, slow or lose your customers, and rank them by how much they cost.
What’s included.
Three steps.
Recruit
We find the right users.
Observe
We run sessions and review behaviour.
Synthesise
We turn findings into priorities.

01Verified first-use customer activation guide
What you may be seeing
- New customers receive access but never complete the first useful task.
- The onboarding tour ends without activating anything.
- Staff repeatedly walk customers through the same first steps.
- Guidance appears even after the task is already completed.
- Customers skip setup because they do not understand the value.
We design and test a clear first-use journey so people can complete the task that makes your product useful.
Implementation & verification
We design first-use guidance around a verified meaningful action in the purchased product. We code progress-aware prompts, examples and prerequisite checks that depend on actual backend state. We avoid marking activation from a tour click and provide recovery or staff help when the customer cannot complete the task. We validate the first-use journey with new customers and compare meaningful activation and later engagement.
How we verify the work
- Identify the earliest action that demonstrates real product value and its prerequisites.
- Use backend completion state to guide and retire prompts at the correct time.
- Test genuine new-user tasks rather than only confirming that the tour renders.
- Measure verified activation, time to first useful task and meaningful return activity.
Tools considered for this work
Delivery: UX/frontend/backend development + activation tracking. Design: Figma task-focused onboarding and empty-state prototypes. Implementation: existing app; optional supported product-guidance platform. State/measurement: authoritative task records plus PostHog/GA4 (Google Analytics 4) events. QA: fresh-account, partial-completion and returned-customer journeys.
Understand the people behind the data.
AI can assist with organising approved research notes and recurring themes. We keep observations traceable to source material, check the interpretation and use it to shape a prototype people can test.

Define what better means.
Completion
Can people finish the intended task correctly?
Clarity
Do customers understand the offer and the next step?
Inclusion
Verified keyboard, screen-reader and mobile task behaviour.
Targets follow the baseline. These are measurement areas, not promised results.
Engineering terms, explained
- Grounded AI / RAG
- An assistant retrieves relevant approved evidence before generating an answer. Access controls and evaluations still need to be engineered and tested.
- Idempotency
- Retrying the same operation does not create an extra order, payment or record.
- Controlled experiment
- A concurrent comparison of assigned variants, with a defined outcome, observation window and decision rule.
- Core Web Vitals
- Measures of main-content loading, responsiveness to interaction and visual stability.

Quick answers.
How many users do you need?
We agree the scope, access requirements and acceptance criteria before work begins. Share your systems and the problem you want to solve so we can propose a focused first step.
Can you use our analytics?
Yes. We combine analytics with direct observation.
